Attending an open home when searching for your next property is something we all have heard of but what should we actually be looking for? Is it as simple as, do we like this house or is there more to it? Below are my 3 top tips for attending an open home.
- – Check recent painting and cosmetic works done to the property. Ask the agent, why were they done? Was it to present the property as great as it can be or are the vendors trying to hide something sinister? If you have any concerns about the property play it safe and get a builder inspection done.
- – Where is the sun? Check to see which way the sun will rise and fall each day and look to see which rooms will get daylight at which times of the day. There is nothing worse than a lounge room that is freezing cold in winter or boiling hot in summer due to the sunlight.
– Ask questions. There are no silly questions when it comes to buying a property. It is a huge financial commitment and you want to make sure you know everything that there is to know. Of course, the agent might not know the answer to all your questions however they could contact the owners and get some clarification for you.
